Since 1911 "The Historic Virginian Hotel" has been the gathering place in southern Wyoming for over 75 years.
Set in Medicine Bow, Wyoming - it was the biggest hotel between Denver, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah - Twenty-one rooms of individual western splendor - A NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK.
The Virginian is located midway between Laramie, Wyoming and Rawlins, Wyoming on the Old Lincoln Highway (U.S. 30) - It became a "headquarters" for all to meet and eat - it has been the setting for business dealings, a few shootings, and many a romance.
The old western hospitality has remained the same over the years and people are still drawn to this fascinating hotel - The working man stops into the "Shilo Saloon" for a cool one after work - The families from surrounding areas are here for dinner in the "Eating House" - the Saturday night dances in the "Back 40" are unbeatable - There are special get togethers and dinners in the famed "Owen Wister Dining Room" - Honeymooners like the "Owen Wister Suite" and our other antique suites.
The historic Virginian Hotel derives its name from the classic novel by Owen Wister - First published in 1902, The Virginian has been made into 3 movies, a TV series, and has established the prototype for all westerns to this day.
Time has stood still for the The Historic Virginian Hotel. It has retained the style and air of old, continuing a world famous reputation of our welcome and hospitality.
